About Me

Currently working in a Marketing and I.T role, my main interest is within web design and web development. Whenever I get the chance I will develop a website for an individual or a company.. I have studied I.T/Computing in both college and university at various levels. My CV has more information regarding each course, and each job position I have held.

University

I Studied at the University of York from October 2006 until October 2010, where I gained my BA in Archaeology and my MSc in Information Technology.

There were a number of modules on each course that I focused my concentration on, and some of these included:

  • Egyptology
  • Osteology
  • Advanced Programming Concepts (Java)
  • Web Design
  • Human Computer Interaction.

My final project for my BA focused on Egypt and its trade relations with the East, while my final project for my MSc focused on colours and how they are perceived on the web. Both of these are available to download from this site in .pdf format.

Web Design

In the October of 1997 I created my first website, a Red Dwarf fan page, while studying Information Technology at college. Since then I have been adding to it and learning new techniques along the way including, PHP, JavaScript and XML. The websites that I create are normally to W3C standards for both XHTML 4.0 and CSS 2.1. This does however depend on the content and user requirement for the website in question. Also depending on user requirement, time and budget, I also usually work to WAI WCAG 1.0 standards, achieving at least all priority 1checkpoints.
